Many coal mines are being abandoned for economic and environmental reasons in China. The repurposing of open-pit into pumped storage hydropower (PSH) can help with the renewable energy, improve mine environments, provide added value. Construction PSH plant will change water level pit, which is envisaged as lower reservoir, thus influencing slope stability. In this study, Fushun West Open-Pit was taken an example. Borehole investigation tilt photogrammetry were used to obtain rock mass quality volume pit. A natural lake, dumps, another upper could bring 40, 3,200, 2,000 MW electricity installed capacity, −295 m, −200 −150 m levels reservoir. numerical analysis software GeoStudio stability considering hydraulic effect under different levels. potential landslide risk may happen several zones specific Further imperviousness reinforcement work needed guarantee construction mine.
